Where is kingscliff qld

Fortunately the local councils are not enthusiastic about high rise - there is a limit of three floors on buildings - and consequently Kingscliff has a similar ambience to Coolangatta fifty years ago.

Kingscliff is nestled between the Tweed River the mouth lies further north at Tweed Heads and a run of attractive beaches which stretch from Cabarita in the south to Fingal Head in the north.

Like a number of coastal resort towns, Kingscliff takes its name from a nearby estate. It was variously known as Sutherland Point and Cudgen Headland until when, evolving into a small coastal holiday retreat, it became known as Kingscliff.

Beach Activities Body and board surfing, lying in the sun, enjoying the ambience of beautiful beaches, doing a little fishing from the beaches and the rocky headlands, these are all activities which define Kingscliff. It is a charming, largely unspoilt and rather upmarket town which is a desirable holiday destination for those who want to avoid the buzz and excitement of the Gold Coast. Tropical Fruit World Tropical Fruit World started in when Bob and Val Brinsmead purchased a rundown small crop farm with a view to specialising in tropical fruit starting with avocados and including custard apples, mangoes, lychees, guavas, macadamia nuts and papaya.

By it was known as Avocadoland. In the property was taken over by their eldest child, Judith Brinsmead. In it became Tropical Fruit World and it is now an agri-tourist destination based around a tropical fruit plantation with over varieties of fruit.

A visit includes nine specific specialist gardens. Tours include "Boat and train rides, an animal farmyard, and a recreation area with putt-putt golf, volleyball, flying fox and games equipment".

The place is now so comprehensive that visitors can go to the fruit market, enjoy the Plantation Cafe and Juice Bar, go on a Plantation Safari, enjoy fruit tasting, go on a wildlife boat cruise to the fauna park where the animals can be hand-fed, and ride on a miniature train.

Cheap and good tucker here at the Bowling Club. More awesome views here from the balcony at the Surf Club. The food here is good as well with specials for lunch and dinner. And they have those kids activity packs to keep them amused at the table.

This historic venue is a favourite destination for locals and visitors. This hotel was, unfortunately, undergoing renovations when were visited last. The House of Zebra is the store of retro, vintage funk. Saltbar is located at Salt Beach and just near the Mantra is this family friendly bistro and quite popular with travellers and locals especially when the specials are on and weekend live music.

If you want to jump in your car and get out of Kingscliff on a day trip or just for a few hours, there are several awesome towns within easy reach. We loved discovering Cabarita Beach, thanks to the tip from our friend, Woody. The Mantra on Salt is a destination in itself. The most beautiful sunrises can be seen here and right from your own balcony. I do think the Mantra on Salt is somewhere to come for at least a week, The resort itself and the destination makes it more of a relaxing break.

Salt village is almost like a resort village, built for holiday makers, although a wider local community is growing around it because its such a great place. The Mantra is right opposite Salt Beach, which can be a bit of a wild beach, but pretty nonetheless. The property has a lagoon-style pool, tennis courts and a day spa. The Mantra on Salt offers hotel and fully self-contained one and two bedroom rooms and suites each with a private balcony.

I have also rented Airbnbs in Kingscliff before which have been perfect to appreciate the local lifestyle. See available options here. Below are our preferred partners. Or sign up with Watersports Guru , which also takes visitors out to explore the region in kayaks, on stand-up paddleboards or with a mask and flippers attached on snorkelling tours to the easily accessible Cook Island Aquatic Reserve.

If you have children in tow, Guru hosts a program designed especially for kids looking to become more confident in the water. Back on dry land, you can hire bicycles including beach cruisers from Kingscliff Cycle Centre. From here, head along the bike path north to Fingal or south to Casuarina, Cabarita, Hastings Point and Pottsville , on the lookout for dolphins and whales the whole way.

Download the Tweed Shire Cycleway Map before your adventure, to help plan your day on two wheels. Just south, more fine dining awaits at Spice Den in Casuarina, serving flavour-packed fare from across Asia; or the highly awarded Paper Daisy at Cabarita Beach, set inside the luxe Mediterranean-styled motel Halcyon House. More low-key, but just as tasty, is the fresh regional produce on sale at the Kingscliff Market , held the second and fourth Saturday of the month.

Families will also love a visit to nearby Tropical Fruit World , where in season , you can sample exotic chocolate pudding fruit, finger limes, ice-cream beans and tamarillo.
