What is jjos

Which JJ OS version do you prefer for your ? Try the free version and see how you like it. You are going to have to purchase it anyways if you want the others. In other words you cannot have os2, etc. So asking which is better is kind of a mute question since you have to buy them all anyways if you really want to check them out.

You can't pick one out of the bunch and roll with it unless it's the free one or OS1. Wait, there are demo versions of the next step up, but you need to have a paid version of the previous OS to audition the next. The other OS versions don't appeal to me at all. However, most people do prefer os2 or 2xl, but I think it's mostly cause they do give the MPC some completely new tricks, but it's at the price of limiting some other functions, and some subtle workflow aspects that I prefer in OS1.

Plus a lot of the new functionality in os2 and xl are better done on the computer or a separate unit of some sort, IMHO. Plus a lot of the new functionality in os2 and xl are better done on the computer or a separate unit of some sort. It also gives some nice little extras compared to the Akai OS and some nice workflow enhancements while still keeping a more classic MPC interface. I've owned a 1k since they 1st came out. I had one from the first batch that came to my city.

I can speak on it pretty clear just due to experience with it. However, even after all this time I'm still figuring out different angles on it here and there, and if JJ OS development continues there is going to be even more to discover about it. Between all the OS' available for it there is a lot to experiment with.

Great machine if you can get past the pads, and maybe get the pad fix if you have an older machine. Hope this helps. Last edited by Reggmail; 3rd March at PM.. Reason: more info. I only use OS1 myself Dazzling array of expansion options.

Soundwise I'd call it neutral. The is pure class. Simple workflow, punchy sound. The downside is getting sounds in and out of the machine and storage. The 5k, 1k, , 4k support wav files. The does not. There are of course workarounds that are imperfect. Personally i think the , are a good compromise. They're still supported thru JJ OS. They're relatively cheap. Parts are easy to get MPCStuff. Currently I have a which I'd like to swap for a due to space concerns.

In a perfect world I would rock another MPC I love that machine. Post by Sinamsis » Wed Feb 11, pm Just picked up a I've had it for a week or two. Running free JJOS. The above is a pretty good summary. The other thing that I didn't consider when I snagged mine is if you want to play longer samples the memory in a or May be inadequate.

Like small samples like for a snare or kick are fine. But if you want backing tracks that are 5 minutes long it might not work. Correct me if I'm wrong. Crazy jitter. I think it's an Ableton problem. Though I've had no issues with other devices. Its been described in a variety of places. This was the second paid-for JJOS, with lots of new features and very notable in that it introduced keygroup programs INST which involved rather drastic changes to the way programs were organised including DRUM programs which made some legacy projects incompatible with JJOS for the first time.

Over the years JJ has shown his dedication to providing a stable, feature packed product and upon receiving a bug report he has traditionally provided a big fix incredibly quickly, sometimes on the same day the bug was reported. These are a great way to obtain a detailed and comprehensive understanding of how to make music with JJOS. Yes very easily. Yes and no! Id like to buy jjos for my mpc ive been playing keys for over 25yrs and I should have had one years ago this thing is the best thing that happened to music.

Really informative article for a newbie. Any suggestions to test it out? Also i was wondering how you could revert back to the Akai Os just so i could test it out. Is that normal for JJ OS? Have you tried holding down the stop button and turning the wheel? I feel more comfortable with hardware and that's why I decided to buy an MPC BTW, Layer is sick! ByNearTao Mon Feb 10, pm. It's a great piece of hardware for staying outside of the computer. Hah thanks, that was something that I put together years ago.

Wish I had the old stems to remix it. Probably time to finish up a few more tracks to get something new on there. Bykedesoth Fri Feb 21, am. I'll definitely stay out of the box for many hours from now on. And I love this green screen!
